Easily Entertained

I am a woman of simple tastes and needs...unless it involves literature and chocolate....but that is another issue entirely.

I have been fortunate to find a very part time job here in DC. I am working for the National Park Service writing lesson plans that will be posted on their websites. And since it is a goal of mine to get published...this totally counts!

Okay, not really.

But it seems like it will be decent work and I am working in an office building and have to go through security when I go into work--I feel all adult-ish and mature.

Which is probably good cause I'm getting old...so old...*weeps into arms*.

Ahem, anyway...so I work in an office building and last week when I was typing away and editing a document (exhilarating work, let me tell you!) I heard a noise behind me. I turned to look and saw a strange reflection across the way. The building across mine has the reflective windows and I saw that there were people hanging from ropes.

WINDOW CLEANERS!

Now you may be chuckling at this, but let me remind you that I have not grown up in the "urban-nitty-gritty-city" and window cleaners have been things of legend...people that existed to buy a book that will teach them how to rise in the corporate world and succeed!

Just kidding.

But I have never seen window cleaners in action. At BYU we would just use the power-washer to clean the windows outside the fieldhouse. So it was really exciting to see them in real life...cleaning windows! (I wasn't kidding about being easily entertained...)

Here is my proof...

So cool. I know that it is probably nothing to get terribly excited about...but I rather enjoyed experiencing it. And I have a whole lot of respect for these guys...I don't think I would be okay with repelling down the side of the building to clean windows, but these fellas did it and did it quite well if I do say so myself. So from one custodian to this window-washer, I say job well done, sir!
